Water Management Inspection:
Although
the builder is responsible for completing the Water Management Checklist,
the HERS rater is required to review any items on the checklist as requested
by the builder? This inspection is designed to confirm the proper use of flashing,
grading, and products to provide the necessary deflection of water and drying
of the structure.

*NOTE: County–level ENERGY STAR Reference Design documents and regional specifications have
been developed for states with advanced codes or unique climate considerations.

Indoor airPlus
As
an alternate to the Water Management checklist, the builder may select the Indoor airPlus certification.
The specifications were developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to recognize new homes
equipped with a comprehensive set of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) features. The categories on the certification
checklist include water management, radon control, pest barriers, HVAC systems, combustion pollutant control
and home commissioning.
